Heard

Since getting back to designing I've been listening to a lot of music. I try not to listen to the same genre but try to mix it up. A little rap, jazz, rock and even a bit of country get my creativity going. My top five songs this week have been BUBBLY by COLBIE CAILLAT, ROCKSTAR by NICKELBACK, CRANK THAT by SOULJA BOY, LIVE LIKE YOU WERE DYING by TIM MCGRAW and NO ONE by ALICIA KEYS.

Sirens

For the first time since I was ten years old I was in a vehicle that was pulled over by the cops. After watching I AM LEGEND (review below), JAMES and I were stopped by the police. It was an odd situation, we hadn't done anything wrong but they flashed us the sirens anyways. They had no intention of giving us a ticket since they never asked for registration; they just wanted to see our driver licenses. They may have thought we were drug dealers but my face is too innocent for that. Both the cops asked where we were coming from and where we lived. After cross checking out ids I guess they find out we were legit and let us go, providing me with another great story to tell my great grandchildren.

The Dark Knight

Legendary

On Saturday afternoon I watch I AM LEGEND on IMAX. This was my first time seeing a movie on Imax and I have to say that it I may never see a movie in a regular theatre again. The Imax experience was amazing, I actually felt like I was in the movie. WILL SMITH does a great acting job; the guy sure has come along way since FRESH PRINCE OF BEL AIR. The visuals in the movie are outstanding and I don't think there was second I wasn't glued to my seat. If you have 1.5 hours free I recommend you drop in to a theatre near you. The Imax film also had the first six minutes of the upcoming Batman sequel, THE DARK KNIGHT. I don't want to give anything away, but I totally agreed with JAMES when he said "that was worth the cost of admission alone." Those six minutes are just that good.

"It doesn’t matter how many times you fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you almost get it right. No one is going to know or care about your failures, and neither should you. All you have to do is learn from them and those around you because... All that matters in business is that you get it right once. Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are."

FrankTV

One talent I don't have is doing impressions of people but this guy does. FRANK CALIENDO impressions of Al Pacino, George Bush, Robert De Niro, Jay Leno are spot on. Check out the video section of his WEBSITE for a good laugh. The guy is really talented.

Roc Boys And The Winner Is

A couple of weeks ago JAY-Z dropped his latest single ROC BOYS. I didn't care much for the song the first time I heard it but eventually it grow on me. A couple of days ago somone sent me the link to the video on YOUTUBE. I just checked to link to this post but it's been taken. For such a great business mind, JAY-Z doesn't understand that his videos will get more views on YOUTUBE and other video sharing sites than he will on MTV. Wake up Hova. Click HERE to hear the song.

Never Eat Alone

Just finished reading KEITH FERRAZZI'S first book NEVER EAT ALONE. Once you get past the ego (he mentions he went to Yale and Harvard a thousand times at the beginning) it is a good how to book on networking and building relationships. I personally liked the chapter about audacity. If your a business person or someone trying to connect to the right people you should purchase this book or visit your nearest library. The book also touches on personal branding, something that is becoming more important in this hyper interactive world of ours.

Warren Buffett

"You do things when the opportunities come along. I've had periods in my life when I've had a bundle of ideas come along, and I've had long dry spells. If I get an idea next week, I'll do something. If not, I won't do a damn thing.”

Loser

While walking the streets of downtown I made eye contact with a street person and who shouted at me “if you have to work for a living son, you’ve already lost.” I chuckled and kept on my way. Later on that night I started to think about what that guy said to me. Was he right? I spend a great percentage of my week going from job to job. Sure I earn a decent living but was this guy on to something. Even with a few dollars in the bank, a warm place to sleep, comfortable shoes and good food had I lost? Worse I thought; what have I won?
