Transformers

James and I decided that it would be a good idea to catch the 10:30pm show of TRANSFORMERS because it would be so busy. We got there about a half an hour early and it was almost packed. I'm pretty sure that everyone in that theatre enjoyed the movie - I sure did. If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend it. It has great action scenes, a lot of comedy and hot girls that can't act. The CGI is amazing and even though the film is pretty long it'll hold your attention all the way through.

Boom Chicka Wah Wah

I have to say that one of the funniest commercials I've seen are the Boom Chicka Wah Wah commercials from AXE. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in that meeting when they came up with the idea. Click HERE one of the commercials, it’s already been viewed over a million times.

Tracker

Just for fun I thought I would check out if any new free agents have been signed on the first day of eligibility and I couldn’t believe all the action. Here are a few major signings (and shockers): Jason Blake with Toronto, Daniel Briere with Philly, Scott Gomez and Chris Drury with the New York Ranger. My hope is that the Canucks will be able to sign Paul Kariya. Click HERE to view all the mayhem.

Jerry Seinfeld

“Seems to me the basic conflict between men and women, sexually, is that men are like firemen. To men, sex is an emergency, and no matter what we're doing we can be ready in two minutes. Women, on the other hand, are like fire. They're very exciting, but the conditions have to be exactly right for it to occur.”

Rudy

I decided watched the film RUDY last night after someone at work told me that it is his favorite sports movie of all time. While I didn't like the character of Rudy right away, his determination and desire eventually rubbed off on me and even though the film is pretty predictable, I found myself cheering for the guy. This true story is a despite the odds, hard work pays off kind of movie. I highly recommend it.

Roundup

Click HERE for the NY TIMES article on various quotes from commencement speeches in colleges across America. My personal favorite is TRAVIS SMILEY'S speech: "The tragedy of life does not lie, young folk, in not reaching your goal. The tragedy lies in having no goal to reach. It is not a calamity to die with dreams unfulfilled, but it is a calamity not to dream. It is not a disaster to not be able to capture your ideals, but it is a disaster to have no ideals to capture. It is not a disgrace to not be able to reach all the stars, but it is a disgrace to have no stars to reach for. "

Fighter

I've always been a JOE SAKIC fan. I'm proud that I was in the stands watching and appluading when he scored his 500th career goal. I and many hockey fans know Burnaby Joe as a skilled center with a wicked wrist shot. But after you watch this VIDEO you'll be impressed with is fighting skills too. Intense Workout

After a lot of procrastination I finally attended my first yoga class today. I questioned if I would be able to do it and if it was for me. I knew going into it that it was going to be intense but I didn't know that I would be cursing myself out during the middle of it wishing I was home with a bag of bbq chips in my hand. The 90 minute yoga class was one of the most intense and mentally challenging workouts I've ever had. I haven't decided to go back yet but I'm proud that I pushed myself and tried something new.

Shooter

I watched SHOOTER starring MARK WAHLBERG last week and was disappointed to see it drop in the box off this past weekend. I personally enjoyed the film and found it to be a smart, fast paced thriller with some awesome explosions. I never realized how much thought goes into being a sniper. If you get a chance I highly recommend you check it out.

A REALLY COOL PRINT (36X24) BY ILLUSTRATOR CHUCK ANDERSON

Jerry Seinfeld

“According to most studies, people's number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two. Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you're better off in the casket than doing the eulogy.”

Prediction

With the SUPERBOWL XLI only two days away I decided it was time to release my pick. After much thought and analysis I think CHICAGO will win the big one. I do think that PEYTON MANNING is a good quarterback but I just feel like he’s going to crack under the pressure. But regardless, may the best team win.

Night Out

My goal this year has been to hang out with as many old friends as I could. While achieving this goal I neglected to hang out with two of my oldest friends.

So on Wednesday night, JAMES, MIKE and I got together and finally hung for the first time this year. After much discussion we finally decided to go to SAMMY J PEPPERS for dinner. Despite the disappointment of a male server, the food was fantastic and the conversation even better.

The plan after dinner was to see a movie but MIKE said he wanted to go home and crash for an hour. JAMES and I didn't mind and decided to squeeze in a game of NHL 07. I was playing really well and was up 5-3 heading into the third period when out of nowhere JAMES scored three goals in three minutes (these breakdowns on my end happen way too often) and I ended up losing the game 6-5. I have to give JAMES credit, not only for the win but he didn't whine once when he was down, which for him is quite an accomplishment.

But as we both expected, at the last moment MIKE bailed. He didn't even have the decadency to call but instead sent a text message saying he was too tired to go out and watch a movie. Despite MIKE’S usual backing out routine (sometimes I question why I'm friends) it was a pleasant evening of good food and good company.

Temptation

I am absolutely disgusted with myself right now. I can't believe I have such little willpower. A few hours ago I ran two blocks in the rain just to buy a few donuts. I tried to talk myself out of it but was unsuccessful. Then after inhaling those donuts I felt horrible. Now 80% of me regrets eating donuts and the other 20% thinks I should have bought another chocolate glazed one.

Pounds

For fun yesterday I decided to check my weight and I’m glad I did. I didn't realized how many pounds I had put on. I thought my pants were shrinking when I had to squeeze into them a month ago but instead I've put on seven pounds over the past few six months. A desk job, a hectic schedule and an addiction to RAINBOW CHIPS AHOY cookies are to blame.

The Butterfly Effect

A long phone conversation last Thursday with JAMES has had me thinking about the choices I've made over the past few years. We both discussed the regrets and missed opportunities of recent years and if we could turn back the hands of time we would make better decisions knowing what we know now. Unfortunately I can't go back and change time; I can only hope to make better thought out decisions in the present so I don't have as many regrets five years from now.

Rocky Balboa

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!"

Reflect

Below are the timeless lessons that I wish to share with you. So since January 1, 2006 to now I have learned: 1) Putting things off each day leads to not getting anything done all year. 2) First, second or third job interviews are nothing to get excited about unless I hear the words you’re hired. 3) The more party invitations I decline and phone calls I don’t return the fewer friends I have. 4) It’s okay to miss my mom when I haven’t seen her for four or five days, even though we both live in the same house. 5) Never ever lend money to friends in debt because they could care less about paying me back. 6) Surfing the internet at work gives me more free time when I’m at home. 7) Which people want to spend time with me and which want me to spend money on them. 8) When a girl is checking me out, it doesn’t mean that she’s interested in a relationship, it just means I’m sexy. 9) Eating 13 cookies in one sitting is not something to brag about. 10) Playing video games with sore losers takes the all the fun out to winning so I just let them win. 11) Not sleeping for 32 hours can lead to health problems or in my case being sick almost once a month. 12) Somtimes life isn't fair or easy.
